Just a heads-up for nVidia users (and possibly others as well). The Windows 10 "Creators Update" seems to have wiped out all my customised settings from the nVidia control panel. All the settings for each GPL .EXE file are gone. I was checking to make sure GPL ran properly after the update, and I noticed that I no longer had any anti-aliasing. Sure enough, when I went to the control panel, the settings were wiped.

So if anyone notices any graphical oddities when running GPL, check your settings. You'll probably find that they've been changed or wiped. :censored:

Thanks again for your excellent customer service, Microsoft! :wall:

Geez, what the heck are they doing over at MS?!? :blink:

Thanks god I decided to stop at WIN7 and not do any more update since the end of 2016.
I'm happy with this settings bu I have also installed Linux mint 18.1 and it seems to work pretty well too.

ginetto, I sure hope that you mean you don't do ALL updates (ie suggestions, drivers, etc) but DO install all security updates.  There is a very nasty piece of Malware circulating the globe right now.  Please allow all security updates on your Win 7 system.  :)

Good to have the NVIDIA Inspector saved my settings,
I can allways restore them and even edit them, e.g. when 55s came I just added the gplc55.exe manually ;)

Glad I too kept my windows 8 HP laptop and my Windows 7 (used to be Vista) Toshiba laptop and not upgrading to Windows 10 :color:

Having said that I feel for people like Saiph and others here,who have used Windows for GPL and gaming for years.Now ending up with total anarchy on their machines :hb:

With the recent cyber attacks it seems Microsoft are teetering on wobbly legs and shoving out updates(even though you need security updates) without giving the user the choice and chance to review them :dino:

Hope you sort things out Saiph :thumbup:

TP:

Thanks for the tip! I've just downloaded it and will try it out ASAP. :thumbup:
(All settings are back to normal now and GPL is looking as pretty as ever. It's actually fairly simple to do, it's just a pain to have to repeat the same settings for each GPL EXE individually. Hopefully Nvidia Inspector will help with that in the future.)

Cookie, you are an absolute lifesaver! :hug:
I've had to reinstall Windows 10 after a crash around May 17th. I didn't have the most up-to-date reinstall DVD, so since the reinstallation, Windows has gradually been adding more recent updates over the last couple of weeks. Today it finally reached the latest "Creators" update. I let the PC reboot and update, and sure enough, when it had finished, all my customised GPL settings had disappeared again. However, since your tip, I have downloaded and tried out Nvidia Inspector, and created my own customised profile. I simply started up the Inspector, imported my custom profile from my backups, clicked "Apply Changes" and all my settings were back!

So much easier!

Thanks again for the tip! :thumbup:

I had no such problem with the Creators update a month ago. Win10 runs perfect and much better than any old version.

I wouldn't touch W10, it has taken too much control away from the user.  You cannot disable auto-updates anymore, and MS is not content with just updating their own product, they now search for and install updates to any drivers on the system (how often have you had a situation where an older driver worked better than a new one?).  W10 is also legal "snoopware", reporting all sorts of data back to MS for "quality control", "update" , and "marketing" purposes .  If I am not allowed to disable any of these "features", W10 will never be on my systems.

Have you ever tried it? I used to say the same things.

This is enough to dissuade me: "You cannot disable auto-updates anymore, and MS is not content with just updating their own product, they now search for and install updates to any drivers on the system..."

I have tried it on a spare system and let W10 install over W7, then I ran it for some weeks testing the handling, the drivers and its usability...
Working since many years with pc's, I never felt such incapitated by a software. :angrypc:

So linux is the best way to go in the future :up:

If Linux could play my windows based games I'd have been using it years ago.  (Today windows barely plays windows based games.)

Hi guys!

I've just build a new pc and burried my AMD Athlon3400 with 1gig ram. My new pc has an AMD Ryzen1700, 16gb of ram and a Geforce GTX1060 with 6gb ram. Driver version is 382.05

So, simple question without searching the net for hours...what are the highest possible settings to make GPL to look as good as possible? What are your nvidia control panel settings? Running GPL on opengl, with this core.ini settings:

[ OpenGL ]
TossHighestMip = 0   ;
MipFiltering = 4      ;
MirrorsEvery = 1      ;

[ Direct3D7 ]
D3DDevice = 0
TossHighestMip = 0
DoubleMirrorResWidth = 1
DoubleMirrorResHeight = 1
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
DisableZBuffer = 0
AlphaThreshold = 1
TransparentMipsDrawOrder = 1
TrilinearFiltering = 1
AnisotropicFiltering = 16
LODBias = -50

[rasterizer]
fullscreen=1

[RasterV2]
Device=0
TossBiggestMips=0
MaxMipSize=0
MirrorSize=0
DirectMirrorRendering=1
DrawMethod=1
ZBufferType=1
AnisotropicFiltering=16
TrilinearFiltering=1
LODBias=0
32Bit=1
Width=0
Height=0

Any help is very welcome, please share your settings and experiences. THX!
