As the Monty Pythons used to say "And now for something completely different".

I've had GPL on my computers since I got a free CD in a magazine back in the late nineties.  To this day I still hot lap and
occasionally race with the Lopen guys but, to be honest, I've never been any good at GPL!

I'm of "a certain age" and was in high school when Vincenzo Lancia brought out his iconic D50 Grand Prix car and I've
loved it ever since!

One of my hobbies in my waning years is scratch building models (i.e. every part is hand made ... No kits) and I just had
to do the D50.   So, as a GPL'er and a huge fan of the wonderful new 55 Mod here's a couple of shots of my latest model ... The 1955 Lancia D50.

Hope these pictures open ... never done this before.

That model is fantastic.  :)

Just an educated guess, but that looks like the version that Ascari raced at the 1955 Monaco.

Thanks for the replies guys.   I started it about 6 months ago and I only work at it when the mood strikes me.   It's about 9 inches long as I don't build to any known scale ... but it IS to scale (if you know what I mean).    There is a build log here.

I carved it in Renshape which is a synthetic material produced for pattern making and very nice to work with.

Great work. I think the Lancia is the most beautiful racing car of the 55ers. Italians always knew how to connect speed with stunning looks, not only concerning cars, motorbikes as well. :bike:

While researching the D50, we identified cars with 3 different type pannier tanks and various number of hood louvers.  I believe our model is based on Ascari's 1955 Monaco car too.  :)
