Here is the work that I've done to try to convert Dave and Pete Allam's Reims over to what it was like in 1954 for the French GP.

This graphical update uses the '55 Mod naming convention ie 3do files are 355; mip files are m55; and srb files are s55.

Here is the order of installation and the files:
1.) Install Dave and Pete Allam's Reims track at the G.P.L. Alternative Track Database - https://gpltd.bcsims.com/?sbtd=reims
2.) Thomas Laechele's v2 beta update at his web site [DO NOT use the alternative vegetation / sky OR the type7 horizon files] - https://www.thomas-la.../gpl/index.html
3.)  Update (Db312 and myself) for Reims 1966 version - https://www.mediafire...1966_update.rar
OR use the complete track folder provided.

Here is the Reims '54 track conversion complete folder - https://www.mediafire...ete_gl_v2.0.rar
Here is the Reims '54 track conversion mod files only - https://www.mediafire...ion_gl_v2.0.rar

Great job Greg  .  I want to ask. Will be here also non-championship tracks from 55 season like Bordeaux, Pau and Snetterton or i have to download these tracks from GP links? Thanks. :)

Thanks, guys, for your kind words.  :)

snebka, I have tweaks for Pau and Snetterton in the works ... along with a few others.  Currently, there is no Bordeaux track for G.P.L.

Greg,
I have used the complete folder option but have a problem with the Sky/Horizon as there is a segment that is different to the rest.  Sorry I don't know how to post a screenshot.
Can you help?

Anyone else have the sky/horizon issue that Alan mentions with the 55Mod-specitic files only archive?  Any ideas?  Alan, maybe do a re-download?

There have been 96 downloads of the complete reims track folder and 57 downloads of the 55Mod-specific files.

Greg,
My error, I thought I had D/L the complete folder but had D/L'd the 55 files only.  The complete folder works just fine.  Thanks a lot for all your hard work.

I'm very glad that you've got Reims working, Alan. I hope that I cleared up my instructions for putting together the track using the previous separate updates.... particularly see Step 2.).
Thanks for testing and reporting back here.  :)

Dear Greg,

Thanks a lot for these conversions. I downloaded and installed them all, and they look great. Especially thanks for the option to dl complete folders, it makes it not only very easy to install, but it also updates any outdated looking track (I still had a few that were not up to scratch) within a few seconds. .
Very, very well done!

René

Thank you very much for your kind comments, RenĂ©.  These modifications were made possible with the assistance that I received from some of the 55Mod Team members. I am so glad that you are enjoying driving these modest attempts at making the tracks more like they were in 1954-55.  Merci beaucoup.

It was a pleasure to work together with you Greg when I was beta testing the "stuff" you created with great support of Ginetto and others. :punk:

Brilliant work!!!
Those 50s track updates add a lot to the immersion of the 55 mod!

Stefan, it has been a pleasure working with you guys.  Hey!  But why stop?  Here is a small update for Reims, both 1954 and 1966.

Re-made the shadows under the two Dunlop bridges.  This required making a new unique texture (mip) for the bridge on the back straight because there is not a piece of pit lane there.  So, a new call for shad2.mip within the reims.355/3do files.

For the 1954 version I removed the white lines on the asphalt at the brake marker locations.  Also, removed the Longlife lettering and emblem at the S/F line and made a new asphalt texture.

Finally, modded the brake marker before T1 to better reflect the real one from a closer examination of the 1954 film.  It was a 100 marker with the curve symbol.

The 1954 version needs work on the start grid boxes;  the 1966 version needs more work on the S/F line.

Files included in updated v2.0 archives at Post #1.
