The extent that the brakes drop off is debatable, but the decisions have been made to have it this way after much debate in the Beta stage.

it's the exact opposite for me. that feature maximises the fun. I'll probably reduce my GPL activity to drive the 55ers only PLUS historical 67 mod F2 cars (easier to drive but also incredible fun).
Noone is forced to drive the 55ers, there are plenty of other mods for GPL.

Definitely with you on that. I think it adds to the 55 experience, gives you something more to think about.

Be that as it may, because I only ever race the AI I have, over the past hour, arrived at a way in which the unrealistic brake fade (which, incidentally, doesn't appear to affect the AI) can be overcome: I have simply adjusted the speed of the AI in GEM to compensate.

I think you brought it upon yourself when you stated; "It has taken a lot of fun out of the '55's for me and, as a result, I have stopped using them for now."
Too bad you don't like the mod the way it is, but it is the way it is.
Glad to hear that you've been able to adjust the AI to your satisfaction even with the "unrealistic" brake fade though.

I did not, and do not, expect everyone to feel the same. That would be ridiculous.
May I also ask a couple of questions.....how old are those who created this mod and have they ever experienced brake fade in an all-drum-braked car?

Bruce, I quoted your Post #75 verbatim and it says "for me".
What difference does it make for how old the mod team members are? But to answer your question; yes, many are old enough to have experienced brake fade in an all drum car. Our average age is probably about 60 which makes us a bunch of legitimate old farts.
Look, I understand your point about brake fade...you don't think the mod's brake fade is realistic. That's your opinion and like Ford Mustangs or Volkswagen Beetles in the '60s and flushing toilets...everyone has one.
You can either live with the mod the way it is or not use it. I'm sure the mod team will loose a lot sleep tonight regardless of what you decide.

(Old Fart Mellow Mode ON)
We really appreciate your comments and assure you that the mod team will do everything possible to accommodate your desires as that is our sole purpose in life.

Btw, I think Donington 37 works very well with the 55ers. I know this is historical and political incorrect.
PS: Are twins allowed to race the 55mod?

Old enough to see Jackie Stewart race before he won his first F1 race and twenty years of racing in TR-7s, FV's, and FF's. Not to mention towing that stuff with a Chevy Surburban. Brake fade of all kinds was the most un-nerving in that Suburban driving to the Glen. The Vee had drums of course but adjustments every 50 miles of track time kept one ahead of no pedal.
And your history ?

Old enough to have become interested in motor racing around 1954/55 as a young boy.
Old enough to have attained my driver's license in 1963 after learning to drive in a Ford Prefect and Vauxhall Cresta on dirt forest roads in northern NSW.
Old enough to have attended the first of, and then several further, Tasman Cup events at Warwick Farm and to have had the opportunity to wander the pits and chat with the likes of Clark, Hill, Amon, Brabham et al.
Old enough to have enjoyed competing at club level in various sprint races and gymkhanas in Sydney and Canberra.
As I said....nothing of interest.
