Ok all, here's my fix to allow GEM to select 1955 mod setups. There's a full readme included in the ZIP, but here are the basics:

First locate the file [GPL]\Mods\Gem+\gpl55.cst

where [GPL] is your base GPL directory where gpl.exe is installed.

Rename that file to back it up (in case something goes wrong), making sure that you change the file extension. I suggest a name such as "gpl55.cst.original". Now copy the new version of the file from the attached ZIP file into that directory. Next time you start GEM, it should recognise setup files for all the 1955 mod cars.

Enjoy!

P.S. Thanks to Bob Simpson for posting his "All GPL Mods Info" spreadsheet. I was going to check the 1955 mod setup extensions as I tested the cars, but his spreadsheet lists the info already and saved me some time. Cheers Bob.

Guys, I think I found a bug in the graphics: when you have a car in your rear mirrors, its steering wheel is rendered as a black square. When it passes you, the steering weel is normal. Any suggestions for it? :)

Lord - "... when you have a car in your rear mirrors, its steering wheel is rendered as a black square."

This is a known glitch which has no solution, yet.

Could it be a way which the graphics engine tries to cheap out on the RAM and CPU? I'm hypotesizing this because the steering wheels are with no faults at all during replays, just in the rear mirrors.

That bug is in the '67  cars too.
The difference is that in 55 the steering wheels of some cars pop out from the body so you notice it.
All cars of all mods has it. No solution found yet. :)

the only issue i've encountered so far (minor) is when i race, i normally have "driver arms" off.. tho the steering wheel graphics are well done, i find another pair of hands distracting ;)   HOWEVER! in turning the arms 'off' when i drive i am still seeing some blob of partial arms (not hands) that cover up the cockpit or mirrors as if the arm option was "on" -   for now, i've turned them on just cause it looks better than a partial blob :P

I have it that sometimes when I exit the car with red brakes, and I may edit some stuff or go from qualifying to race, I get back in the car, the brake fade is still red.

Shouldn't it go green?

40psi when warm - 275.8 kilopascals

As for optimal tire temps... let's let another Mod member answer that one.  :)

Some 55Mod tire modelling info by Richard Cooke:

"In the current physics the tires start with almost maximum grip, because I have not found any reference to having to heat up tires from this era to get the best grip.

I have a book on racing technique written by Piero Taruffi in 1958 that has no mention of warming up tires, and a book by Stirling Moss and Laurence Pomeroy that includes some driver technique and technical ideas that also doesn’t  mention needing to heat up the tires."

Hello and thanks to all that worked their asses off to bring us this killer mod.

I love the physics and the modeling. Brilliant work by the team.

My only issue is when I race the AI in Novice Mode Only, the pitboard always reads "L1" no matter what lap I'm on. And Prib reads "1" as well the entire race. I've only raced at Zandy and Buenos Aires. Same result on both tracks. I was so bent on fixing the problem, I did a complete reinstall and sadly I got the same result. When I switch back to the 67s,,it works fine.

**Works fine in Intermediate Short

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful.

THANKS!!!

Will
