The 1950s and 1960s were very dangerous times for drivers.  Many did not survive their racing careers.  Of the 19 AI drivers, 6 died in racing accidents...

True. I think t it's also worth mentioning the death of the very talented Argentinian driver Onofre Agustín Marimón, who died at the Nürburgring in 1954. That particular accident had deep impact both on Fangio and Gonzales.

Greg - wasn't Paul the passenger? I think it was the garage owner/car owner etc. that was driving. Still, an unfortunate way to go.

Gartner - I agree, it looks like he was starting to get really fast. Similar to Jules Bianchi in the modern day perhaps. It's also worth noting that Marimon was the first crash of many (as shown in Lee's post) that then happened in 1955-60. No wonder they wanted to slow the cars down for 1961-65.

After spending a couple of evenings with this mod I can say it was well worth the wait.  These cars are surprisingly easy to drive, even around Nurburgring, and sounds are some of the best I've heard in GPL.  Still using default setups, which are quite good, with 30 minutes fuel, mostly at Spa and Nurburgring, and have run out of gas several times from being so caught up in the driving (we needn't mention I've done this too often during T&T days in real life).  Won't set any lap records but if this were any more fun it would be illegal.

And when I think of all those nice tracks waiting in GPL....

Try Dundrod, Isle of Man and then the Mille Miglia.

Can't wait to try this mod. Sounds real fun. Are the cars easier to drive than the Formula 2 mod?

Totally different than F2; front engine, narrow tires, high driver position, brake fading... can't compare :)

In my track collection I have six "sections" of Mille Miglia that were released somewhere (by Sergio Loro?).  Very alpha, if i remember correctly.

    Ravenna
    Forli
    Cesena
    Rimini
    Pesaro
    Marotta

Is that to what Bruce refers?

Nope.  The 1955 Mille Miglia (MM) was started for G.P.L. by our famed Sergio Loro.  Webfoot has listed the alpha sections that have been started in his Post #234.  :)

How long would it take to create the whole Mille Miglia for GPL? 25 years? Anyway, RESPECT!

    "It's a family thing."

Maybe pass along the Mille Miglia track project from generation to generation.   :D
