Hi y'all,

I have had the original GPL since it was released in 1998 (within days of release) and am just getting around to trying the 65 Mod and all the other goodies available.

In the GPL-65 mod, I have tried the virtual mirrors in this link: https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...426 and the brabham.3do for both the standard mirrors and the maximum zoom mirrors don't work.  When they are put in the cars/brabham directory, when I go to a track, the track will not load.  All the other mirrors seem to work fine.  I have tried my hand at creating my own virtual mirror for the brabham.3do but instead of getting the mirror image, I get an image of the dashboard where the mirror would go!

Any help getting a working virtual mirror for the brabham.3do would be much appreciated.  I have also posted over at the linked subject (hopefully that was OK).

I showed my son what the current state of GPL was and he was amazed that a game from 1998 could have advanced so much from modders.  Keep up the great work everyone!

Hi Calvin.  I've never used the virtual mirrors before, but I just D/L them for the '65 Mod.  Place the BRABHAM.3DO file in the proper folder:

First I tried the standard zoom for the Brabham BT11 (gpl\cars\full65\brabham\BRABHAM.3DO).  Worked fine.

Next, I tried the maximum zoom for the Brabham BT11 (gpl\cars\full65\brabham\BRABHAM.3DO).  Worked fine also.

Extract everything from the .dat file (don't let it overwrite the present files to keep updates)
Run 3dostrn and read the report to check for missing files.
This is with the virtual mirror brabham present so you can check what's causing the could not load error.

MECH, I have only replied because Calvin said:  "In the GPL-65 mod,... put in the cars/brabham directory..."

I wanted to show that the proper directory is cars\full65\brabham\

Thank you all!  I will try this when I get home from work.

Gotta love a community for a 20 year old game that replies in a few days.  That's better support than I get from some big non-game software companies!

Hi Martin,

I downloaded 3dostrn and ran the tool on the extracted files from the brabham.dat.  I was reading the strings.txt file but I don't understand what it all means.  What am I looking for?  I have uploaded the strings.txt and the redundant.txt files.

P.S.  I re-downloaded the virtual mirrors and put them in the correct folder and they still don't work.

That's not right; you only have a 2 line string report, I have this massive string file report running it on a vanilla 65F1 brabham folder.

This line means that the program did not find the entry:

Thanks for the reply.  I actually uploaded the wrong string.txt.  I compared the correct file to yours and I didn't see any missing files.  I will try to upload the correct file.

I did a fresh install of GPL, the 65 mod, and the virtual mirrors.  Still no joy.
