Are you using GEM ? After you click on Carsets button, here the list of the 67 EXTRA actives carsets that you activate.

Thanks for the info, Needforspeed ... it was useful to compare notes with what you have.

Has anyone done a comparison of times achieved with this Historic Mod (67x) vs original GPL physics?  I have been playing around at Kyalami a bit this morning ...

While the new mod inspires confidence with predictability, and I now enjoy sliding the Cooper more than ever, I am still faster at Kyalami with the 'original' (Spinning) Historical mod (which uses the original physics, I presume): 12214 vs 12316 in the T81.  This was quite unexpected as I enjoy the 'feel' that the new mod brings.  In my opinion, it is also much more forgiving if you set a wheel on the grass.  Drafting/slip-streaming a Lotus down to Crowthorne will probably allow me to go faster in the 67x T81 :Meter: .

I would certainly be interested in broader bench-marking as I am not quick by any means ...

Nonetheless, I am like a kid in a candy store with this new mod and cannot get enough of the wonderful carsets.  Thanks again, guys; and happy New Year :partytime:

maybe first by trying Kyalami last round ( 68 race) with the latest carset7 physics, you ' ll compare engines power and torque  matching more  the origial 67 physics ( late season), but with the differences in cars roadholding.

Jimmy still does 1.19.2 at Kyalami for me.

The AI are much slower at Monacane, and Mosport Rain as it should be. The rest of the tracks i've run seem the same as Papy physics. Not sure what you're using for setups. The default setups for this mod are pretty slow, but safe. I use my old Papy physics setups, and they seem to work ok.

Yes, yes, YES!!!. Brilliant stuff. Amazing dedication and commitment by the team producing this next step in GPL experience. Maybe good to think about a press release for this GPL production, together with Nassau and Riverside tracks and the upcoming CanAm 66 mod and send it to PCGamer, Gamerz.nl, Computertotaal, PCM, Gamespot etc sites and magazines. This deserves high level and wide attention beyond the GPL Mirror Zone community. This really is GPL V2.0. My deepest respect for the team. Chapeau :hat-tip:

Glad you got it sorted Yannick.

If anyone wants to change their face or helmet all you need to do is replace the plahelm/plaface in folder c00 for any of the carsets and the other player cars will copy it. Just make sure you don't remove them.

I see you are very new to GPL world ; Welcome

Respect the arborescence of files. Each track name must be drop inside your GPL / tracks folder.

Elijah,
You need to do the following:
- downoad/install 7zip if you haven't already. It is free.
- then follow these screenshots. This is the way I do it so that I don't make mistakes (maybe there is an easier way still?)
- open the 7z file
- double click (DC) "Carset 3" folder; DC "GPL" folder; select the folders "cars" & "tracks", click the 'minus sign' to extract the files
- in the 'copy to' dialog box choose your GPL install & navigate to the "GPL" folder
- here you will see which files/folders you have selected (cars & tracks) to copy to which folder (C:\Sierra\GPL\)
- when asked about overwriting files, click "Yes to all"

hope this helps ;)

I done similar test at Balcarce with BRM and carset7, identical setup.
Result: i was 4 tenth faster with old GPL.
When in race, instead, i was faster with new mod due to slipstream effect (INT SHORT, i start last and i was ever in traffic).
Here a comparison beetween the two laps.
Attached File  balcarce_GPLRA_merged.rpy   149.16K   17 downloads
You can notice that new mod is faster in cornering, but slow down in straights due to more  aerodinamic resistance.
More i run with new physics, more i dont want to drive old GPL.

I have created a new install (GPLv2) & installed all 7 carsets.
I thought I would copy my existing 67 setups to this new install so I have something familiar to work with.
In GEM+, whichever car I select, I only have brabham (.bb1) setups available to select from the dropdown box.
I have saved a setup from all chassis in carset1 & any different chassis I saw in the subsequent carsets to check their file extension (see pic) & they are sequential from .la1 through to .lp1

So my question is why are only bb1 setups showing in GEM+ rather than the new .la1 etc ?

I'm curious who made the setups, and what was the thinking behind them? Are they just generic setups to have something, or were they tested?

59BB, 20-1 steer ration, 2.50 RH at Nurburgring?

Also, one little thing I noticed right away. Not to be morbid, but for the sake of realism. Bandini is finishing the Monaco races unless his car breaks down.
