Is it possible to use a car of this mod in the normal GPL installation?.

I have a gplc67.exe installation for rank purpose, and I'm looking to run the awesome Parkes' Ferrari 66 (Zandvoort) in it.

The folder is: cars/1967-3/c25.

I did the following, but still having "could not load the track":

1) Renamed:
a) c25.dat to ferrari.dat
B) c25.cam to ferrari.cam
c) c25.3do to ferrari.3do
d) c25d.3do to ferd.3do
e) c2527.3do to fer27.3do (I already have the gplc67 to player run #27).

2) Edited the 3dos:
a) Change c25 to ferrari (par4a, ferd and fer27).

3) Removed Amon and Scarfiotti from drcv.ini to have just Parkes in Zandvoort.

As I still having "could not load the track" I decided to extract Ferrari.dat

1) Renamed all i lf/lr/ff/fr tire 0/1/2.3do to f lf/lr/ff/fr tire 0/1/2.3do

2) Renamed the same inside Ferrari.3do

No sucess....

Please,
Someone could help me?

Cheers,
João.

Run 3dostrn and let it check for missing files (extract all files from the dat file before you do)
Do the same for the alphabetically following folders (so after ferrari then next would be lotus and murasama)

It's possible you need to get some files from the old ferrari.dat and put those whereever 3dostrn complains about missing files

Dear Martin,

Thank you very much for your tip!

I started with ferrari folder from version 1 of the mod.
After I paste my modified files above.

Now it's working!.

I already downloaded 3dostrn and will check later. Seems to be very usefull.

Thank you again.
Cheers,
João.

Great mod!

...but I cant get my setups to show on the in-game drop down menu - only the default for each track.
I changed the extensions to the updated 'k' versions after which they were selectable in GEM but that didn't translate to the in game menu - still just a long list of default setups. Also, Spa67 doesn't seem to be listed in the in-game setup menu despite it being listed in the 67season and ini's etc.

I've reached the admittedly very low limit of my tech abilities so it's time to ask for some help please gents...

Can you try to modify a setup in GPL, give it a recognizable name and then see what it is called in the folder?

Hi Ginetto, thanks for the quick reply!  I tried that, it came up in the player-setup folder as - spa67 ferrari bc.li1.
Not with the 'k' extension. I must be missing something!

Ok, changed all my setups in the setup folder to the updated 'k' extensions. Been through the player and setup folders, cant find anything obviously wrong.

With everything seeming to be ok in GEM it's as if something in the new install didn't get overwritten by the new mod files maybe? so GEM is not 'talking' to the game (about setups anyway).

Still confused and befuddled.... :wall:

Hey Burt,
Have you updated the mod with the "file extension update" from post1?
I think this was what I had missed when I re-installed recently & came across the same setup issue.

Ok, bit of progress at last. I took pic on my phone of my setup in setup manager via GEM then from that manually entered the settings in the in game setup menu... en viola!
Setups all now appearing...

Done few laps now. EPIC! well done to all involved.

After a long break from GPL (real life getting in the way) I've just managed to install v2. It is a VERY impressive package and a real step forward from v1.  Thanks to all involved.

And now the but....

I spent a lot of time and care with the install into my single (multi-mod) GPL install.  I thought I got everything correct.  I haven't tested every combination, but have checked a race meeting at every track.  I have noticed 2 "problems".

1) Syracuse grid in track67.ini

stall_0 = 5560 -2.5
stall_1 = 5560 1.2
stall_2 = 5553 -1.2
stall_3 = 5553 2.5
stall_4 = 5546 -2.5
stall_5 = 5546 1.2
stall_6 = 5539 -1.2
stall_7 = 5539 2.5
stall_8 = 5532 -2.5
stall_9 = 5532 1.2
stall_10 = 5525 -1.2
stall_11 = 5525 2.5
stall_12 = 5518 -2.5
stall_13 = 5418 1.2
stall_14 = 5411 -1.2
stall_15 = 5411 2.5
stall_16 = 5404 -2.5
stall_17 = 5404 1.2
stall_18 = 5397 -1.2
stall_19 = 5397 2.5

There is a big gap between stall_12 and 13.  Not a problem for the historic grid since there are only 7 cars.  But when I had a race with my regular 67 cars (patched so track67.ini is used) the grid had a big gap in the middle.  Easily fixed just added 100 to the values for  stall_13 to stall_19.

2)  I get a CTD with Oulton Gold Cup (oulton67) trying to run a Historic 67 race.

Done some investigation.  It's ok if I have 16 AI cars but crashes with 17-19.  So looks like something wrong with a particular car.  I have not seen anybody else mention this problem.  Is it just me?

As the track and the cars have come straight out of the install files I don't think I have broken something.  Will try to narrow it down as soon as I get a chance.

Update
Looks to me like both driver_17 (Harry Stiller) and driver_18 (John Cardwell) in the Cooper F2 (car folder c05) give me the CTD.  Tried 3DOSTRN but nothing obviously missing.

I must have done something wrong, which is entirely possible (the first time I tried to install this it didn't work). I am not good at installing mods unfortunately. My problem is I have no ai during race.

Did you copy the "gplx67.ini" file into your GPL folder?

I still have the hope for a fully implemented online version of this mod...

I guess it's only numbers, right? It'd be a hell of a lot of work to do all the carsets (having witnessed the 55 mod team doing the 55 cars).. so maybe only the last carset would be good to do for online (being the fastest set)?
