I am sorry to start a new topic but given the collage of information scattered and hidden over pages here and elsewhere, I figured one location with current and valid information may be valuable to anyone still running this or newcomers. I hope to have documented everything and this is done solely to keep GTP alive. Please note all downloads contain "readme.txt" files which credit all the authors as well (such as Alex or Arturo). For help with running the game and mod on Windows 8 or 10, visit here.

I'm posting again because I can't edit the original post. Here I have added a little bit more detailed information to get your game set, and the mod properly installed :drive1: . You may also click here to join the dedicated Discord channel. If you really care and wish to donate and buy me a lemonade, you can do so through here.

Some of the contents included:
  • Redline GTP mod
  • Group C carsets with correct driver line-ups and performance for single-player use (with filters for Le Mans, IMSA)
  • GTP-ready tracks and recommended track downloads
  • HD steering wheels with easy-click-edits template
  • HD Pitcrew and car templates (as seen here)
  • GTP setups
  • GTP Track Files to make tracks GTP-compatible (includes better new AI setup so it can be competitive offline, new base setups, files to add NR2003 tracks to GTP)
  • Sound updates
  • HD special effects and reflections (work on regular NR 2003 game)
  • ThePits GTP EZinstall
  • Alcohol 52% (to read disk images without having to use your actual disk) - May need a different version for Windows 10
  • Nascar Racing 2003 with 1.2.0.1 patch
How to install the GTP v1.1 Mod

Nascar Racing 2003 Season Installation Guide:
1- Load NR2003 in your disk drive (either the disk image or the actual CD) and select install
2- Select folder destination and enter your serial number for installation
3- Run the v1.2 update, and install to same NR 2003 directory
4- Run the Config.exe
5- Load the game to make sure it works

Tutorial for the Redline GTP mod:
Because this mod has its own physics, a clean NR 2003 installation is recommended. For that, you can make a copy of your current install or install the game again on a different folder. I recommend using The Pits GTP EZ-Installer (featured below), to copy your NR 2003 folder and name it "GTP."
  • Download and decompress the GTP EZ Installer. Place the "gtp_inst_bat" file in your NR 2003 installation, and run it.
  • The program will have copied your NR 2003 installation to a folder called "GTP". Now you're ready to follow the steps below
1- Run the Redline GTP v1.1 installer and point it to your newly-created GTP folder
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
2- With the mod now installed, make sure the NR2003 disc is in the tray, or the virtual image is loaded, or you have the mod's noCD launcher
3- Load the Redline GTP launcher
4- Click on "Options"
5- Under PROFILE tab, Add New Player (never delete "The Player")
6- Go to GRAPHICS tab, then "Calculate Texture Size." There you enter your video card memory and screen resolution. Max allowed is 2048 (no problem if your card is capable of more, still enter that amount)
7- Hit OK, then on the GTP Launcher select the car category you want
A = Toyota 88C
B = Jaguar XJR-9
C = Sauber Mercedes C9
D = Mazda 787B
8- Select your car livery, and single or multiplayer mode. Hit START and enjoy!

Where to install additional downloads

Tracks
C:\GTP\Papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003 Season\trackD
Note: Tracks found in the link I provided will all be GTP ready.  No ini files to update or known problems.

Setups
C:\GTP\Papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003 Season\players\your_name\setups\
Note: The track folder name in the setups folder must match the track folder in the /trackD folder.  Each driver profile has it's own set of track folders and setups.  You may need to create this folder if you have not been on the particular track yet.

Replays
C:\GTP\Papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003 Season\replays
Note: You will need the track installed to view a replay from that track

Add-ons
C:\GTP\Papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003 Season\folder

*** Personal installation tips ***
  • I use a virtual disc image so I don't need to rely on "NoCD" files
  • I use The US Pits simple program called "GTP EZinstall" which is available through the link, to make a copy of my fresh NR 2003 install folder (NR 2003 updated to 1.2.0.1
  • I install anything GTP-related in that folder, which I call GTP
  • Under "My Saved Games\Papyrus\" I have both "GTP" and "Nascar Racing 2003 Season" game folders
  • Regarding content, I highly recommend downloading the carsets! It's a great experience for single player driving as well as having real life liveries. Also get the HD steering wheels, I made them myself and they also fix a bad reflection mapping issue with the default
Introduction to the cars

1988 Toyota 88C-V
Boasting an 3.2 liter, turbo-charged V8 twin turbo engine producing 800bhp @ 8000 RPM, and 780NM of torque @ 5000 RPM on 935kg, the Toyota is not only a looker but a beast when it comes to top speed. It also features reasonably good brakes and fuel consumption.
However it lacks the downforce and grip of its Group C counterparts, making it a challenging car to drive competitively on smaller circuits especially with the additional weight. The chassis feels a little soft but on a positive note, it is also very maneuverable, meaning it can pull off 4-wheel drifts and survive being overdriven. If you have ever played Grand Prix Legends, this car feels like a 1967 Formula 1 car on steroids and with downforce!
88C.JPG

1988 Jaguar XJR-9
Featuring a fantastic 7.0 liter, V12 producing 750bhp @ 7200 RPM, and 828NM torque @ 5500 RPM on 881kg, the 1988 Le Mans winner is an incredible machine. With beautiful looks and sound, the Jaguar's strongest point is the mix of its powerful engine and aerodynamics.
The downside of the grippy, potent package, is that the engine is a bit thirsty. The brakes do not compromise the XJR-9, and overall the car is a great choice for all tracks.
XJR9.JPG

1989 Sauber Mercedes C9
With a 5.0 liter, turbo V8 producing 720bhp @ 7000 RPM, and 810NM of torque @ 3500 RPM, and 905kg, the legendary 1989 Le Mans winner is a fantastic car. It has very good grip, power, and fuel economy to immediately make it a favorite.
There's very little negative to say about this car, except the braking zones are a little longer and if overdriven, it will bite you in the butt likely with the rear stepping out beyond saving. It is important to not brake too late or the load of the car will cause gross understeer. Also, the engine needs plenty of air so don't close the radiator too much.
C9.JPG

1991 Mazda 787B
"Small" but mighty, the 1991 Le Mans winner features the legendary 2.6 liter rotary engine with 700bhp @ 9000 RPM, and 608NM of torque @ 6500 RPM, on 830kg. Being so light and with great aerodynamics, the 787B has extremely good braking and is a beast through corners! It also has a very responsive engine but its final gear ratio is much shorter than all other cars. By a lot. It lacks on top speed and also has poor fuel economy.
Despite not being a favorite like its older brothers, the Mazda can be quite competitive especially on tracks with more corners, or featuring slower corners. It usually runs a higher wing that when coupled with the way it accelerates through the gears (short higher-gear ratios is best), can be surprisingly fast. It is also the most beginner friendly because of its forgiving and nimble character.

How to make NR 2003 tracks compatible with GTP
This is available as one of the downloads from the link above. How to make a regular NR 2003 track be GTP-compatible, edited from Quattro's post at srmz.net

Step 1: Copy the track folder from Nascar Racing 2003/tracks folder (or the .zip file of the track you want to install) into the Redline GTP/trackD folder.

Step 2: Copy the 5 files into the track folder. They are included in the downloads of the first post, but can also be copied from another GTP track folder. The 5 files are:[/font][/color]
  • fast.gtp.jag
  • fast.gtp.maz
  • fast.gtp.sau
  • fast.gtp.sim
  • fast.gtp.toy
Step 3: The last step involves adding two sections to the track.ini file that's in the track's folder.

Open the track.ini file using notepad, and you will see several sections pertaining to the track's parameters concerning tire grip for mods, green flag drop region, pit stall locations and so forth. You can enter the following information easily into the track.ini anywhere except before the first section or after the pitting stall info at the end of the file. Copy and paste the following somewhere in the middle of the file between existing sections: cup, cts, pta, etc.

Code:
[ track_gtp ]
track_tire_heat = 0.97
track_tire_wear = 1.20 ;> 1.0 means more wear, i.e. 2.0 is twice normal wear, 0.5 is half normal wear
track_tire_wear_loss = 0.11 ; percentage of grip lost at full tire wear
track_tire_wear_exp = 1.05 ; > 1.0 gives a bigger fall off later in run < 1.0 gives a bigger fall off early in run
track_asphalt_grip = 1.06

[ ai_track_gtp ]
ai_accel_modifier = 0.88 ; acceleration grip efficiency
ai_decel_modifier = 1.00 ; braking grip efficiency
ai_fuel_use = 0.99 ; > 1.0 = more fuel consumed
ai_grip_modifier = 1.035 ; > 1.0 = more grip
ai_drag_modifier = 1.03 ; > 1.0 = more drag, which is slower
ai_line_modifier = 1.0 ; dangerous hack, don't use unless you are a trained professional
ai_qual_modifier = 1.0 ; > 1.0 = faster during qualifying
ai_tire_wear_left = 0.24 ; left tire wear adjuster for ai
ai_tire_wear_right = 0.20 ; right tire wear adjuster for ai
ai_pacing_distance = 2.0 ; car lengths behind while pacing
ai_bunching_distance = 1.9 ; car lengths behind while bunching for start
ai_drafting_distance = 1.19 ; car lengths behind while racing
ai_panic_decel = 5 ; G's of extra deceleration inducing panic
ai_dlongpad_scale = 3 ; scales padding in braking zones (smaller = more scaling)
ai_dlat_pad = 0.82
ai_squeeze_pcnt = 0.00
ai_wall_offset = 100
ai_inverse_slipcurve_k = 0.75 ; how much slip angle AI need to corner. smaller = more, more = increased drag

After you do this and save the track.ini file for that track. You can now get into the mod and select the track. If the track will still not load (it should), then add this:
[ gtp ]
record_lap_time =
record_holder =

Yeah!!!
Great idea.
LeMans and Road Atlanta are two of my GTP favorites.
Haven't been there lately, but lots of fun.
Thanks for the reminder and encouraging others to try it out.

I have added more to the Mega folder:

- Uploaded a working Cam Hack and did a quick guide write-up and added dx8vb.dll
- Uploaded dozens of tracks aptly named, including nice NR 2003 tracks that have been made GTP-compatible, with a download guide

I have a question. I race in a fictional racing league that I created with fictional drivers and teams all with extensive back stories. It's a fictional racing league that I worked really hard on and it's pretty in-depth with the backstories and everything. The ratings are also determined based on these backstories. You posting this has been a huge help for me as there aren't many Redline GTP cars around. This league started in 2002 (I created it in 2016 but played through 2002 to 2016) and I'm staring to run out of cars. I was thinking of going with a different mod, do you know what road racing mod has the largest amount of cars for it? I would prefer somewhere around 1000.

I was thinking of either switching to a different mod or adding Redline GTP cars myself for the mod. The problem like I said before was that I am not a painter. How long does it take for a complete n00b to paint a car? I'm willing to paint cars myself for the series but I know nothing or painting and don't have an interest for it, but because I'm almost out of cars I'm willing to do this. Is it possible to paint one of these Redline GTP cars within 30 minutes if you are a complete n00b at it or does it takes hours and hours?

Hey, so do you already run this with GTP cars? If so, I recommend you download all of the Virtual Leagues skins. I have not touched any of those ratings, of course, but it will give you over a hundred cars. Other than that, I have seen these sites: https://babylone57.fr...search_text=GTP

For painting, it depends. If you have an image editing software (I use Photoshop CS2 as it's free, but it's 14 years old) it will be easier as you can work on layers instead of painting on just only one surface. I suggest you look up a couple of quick videos online. But how long it takes would vary. I'm a perfectionist and on a simple game like NR 2003 and the GTP cars, I could take a few hours or more depending on the detail of the paint. If you're just editing numbers, it's a couple of minutes. If you're painting from scratch using the templates I have linked, it will depend on how satisfied you are. You can do simple lines and designs, and slap logos on it and be done. But for a complete beginner, 30 minutes will not be enough especially if you want some quality.

Thanks GUI for this remembering post. :wave:
I have the hope to keep GTP alive. It's the 'GPL2-Physics' with beautiful Touring Prototypes.

Also have a look on https://fmrb.selfhost...u/server/ there is a public server. Please join and report, if it's possible to join or not. I can not test it by myself.
Like IMSA 2017 there is Daytona 24h Road Course for racing.

Here the Toyota at Sebring: https://www.youtube....h?v=4Vu2rD-5e-4  :drive:

You're welcome. Also nice to see your video using some of the updates :D.

About the server, I did try it and it did work! The only thing is I got booted for not passing Tech Inspection. My version of Daytona RC seems to be different. But the main thing is, it works :). About racing, FSB Racing has kept their GTP series running for another season, now on alternating Sundays at 11:00 A.M. EST (-5 GMT).

Hi Gui,

sounds are very important for me. More important than graphic outside the track.
The Toyota i  only edited the original for higher pitch.
The Sauber got the GN63 sound. https://www.dailymoti...2003_videogames
The Jaguar the AD87 Ferrari sound. I think i pitched it a little bit down.
The  Mazda got a sound from GTR/rFactor? I dont't know that anymore, sorry. https://www.dailymoti...2003_videogames (here low rpm at 01:10 and 01:54)
I can make an archive.

First I would say that my guess is there are probably more than 500 painted GTP cars out on the net you havent seen yet.
Its still possible to find them using google.

And secondly I would advice you to start painting more humble than Gui does say.
Find a simple paint program that you quickly can be comfortable with.
Photoshop isnt for anyone but I have heard a lot about the free GIMP program.

And then start with some simple coloring of the different carparts on a GTP template.
Import it to the sim and check the result out in the Driver Info menu.
If your interest is too low for this then either search for the mentioned waiting 500 carpaints or find another mod.
