Amazing that GPL is still going strong. Thought it had died so it's good to see somebody got it working in Windows 7. Thanks for activating my account whoever did that. Hopefully I can get GPL back on my PC. Sure I still have a disc somewhere with old cars & tracks on it. Found this site by accident after putting race room on my system. It's good but I'm not so keen on the modern tracks, Too cart like. I never did race online as back then I couldn't afford a decent joystick & would have knocked you all off track, Oh & I still can't drive. But race room just reminded me how good GPL was...Is! So with a bit of help from here I should be up and running again before long. Maybe at the weekend when I have some time. Whatever happened to Race sim central......???

RSC had a huge crash; they lost all the data or something like that  and after that other people took over so some brilliant GPL  people created this site and the rest (me included) followed.

For installing GPL on your new system you can follow the nice guide you find HERE

and Welcome to the community!

Well I just been looking for the original cd. Can only find my back up disc, Think it must have gone to the charity shop along with a lot of older software that only worked in XP! Looking on amazon £10 seems to be the current price.... ouch. And I bought it in 2004. Was it really that long ago? Can this be installed without the original disc? They are no longer available new. I'm looking at second hand examples on ebay or amazon market place. One new one in France! Surely this is out of copyright now???? Thanks for the replies.

If you have a copied GPL-CD this is no problem with the installer.
If the backup is a working installation it will be possible, but a lot of work to get it up to date.

Thanks for that. Bit the bullet & ordered a second hand copy from ebay.... Est delivery 2nd of August.... Got rid of a load of stuff in a recent house move. Bad news when you end up buying it again..... lol. Probably somebody got lucky & bought mine for 50p in overgate.

When I first got gpl it was either a budget version or a silver disc in jewel cd case.
I searched for ages for the original big box version with chunky manual. Cost me a bit more but worth it for the nostalgia. Just like handling and smelling an old book.Something special about that feeling.
If you get hooked into gpl I would advise trying to get the original big box if you can.

Oh my - I followed the link at https://www.gpllinks.org/ > "Purchase GPL here" and it looks like new GPL CDs aren't available any more.  I wonder if it's time that someone put up the contents of the CD for download somewhere?

Or does someone other than Mastertronic sell it?

About a year or so after I got my gpl cd and into the game I was fishing about online and found a Sierra compilation game file. Where I got it to this day?
The file contains gpl,Nascar Legends,Nascar Racing 3 and Viper racing as well as others.
Its not an iso or torrent. Inside each game file is the files you would find on a install disc.

I have found a free download with google but don't want to link it here in case it gets the site into bother. It is on the net if you look for it. Not sure of the legality of it though. Not sure what I will get off ebay. Knowing my luck a copy from the net. It it's legal could it be linked on here for others? Or even hosted as the supply of second hand ones drys up. Sure I paid a lot less for my original copy.

There are old games I play the user forums have added download links to the full game. The situation on those would likely be no different to GPL. It's up to ownership here but the game is starting to push 2 decades old! Not sure who would actually be objecting if links did go up? lol
It's a great game and difficult to attract new users as the CD is getting harder and more expensive to get hold of. It's not about piracy, it's about keeping a legendary game alive. Can't see anyone objecting to that.

Oops. Mastertronic/Sold Out hasn't had Grand Prix Legends for awhile...few years maybe?
When asked they said don't expect it ever again.
Back then thought maybe a new source would show, then forgot all about it.
Anyway, deleted the link.
Thanks Bob.

Besides having a disc or box edition for the sake of having it, everything else is already available except nine of the OEM tracks? Maybe eight?
