Hi,
I'm not good artist so I have request. Could someone make such textures update for Brands Hatch that represent spring time. Race of Champions at Brands Hatch took place in first half of March. Original tracks texture are too green and trees are with leafs.

There is a spring update for Cerne's Wood. Maybe some of it might help in the meantime?

I think this would be a great idea Pavel hope someone could do it. I would really like to see a more accurate Brands Hatch for the Race Of Champions. Just different/updated textures on what we have now nothing massive.

You obviously have absolutely no idea how many files and how much effort is involved in texturing a GPL track!

Sorry I didn't mean it like that.

I do have an idea because I tried this a while ago but I couldn't do it. I meant it would be easier for someone who knows what they are doing to replace the textures already in the track with other ones already made for other tracks. Not go around adding more objects and creating new textures for this update.

Pavel,  have you seen these:

https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...=+brands +hatch

I use the fog trick. Then I think you can keep also the default horizon and sky mips.

Thanks, Pavel. But not so much my idea as an idea about as old as hacking Grand Prix Legends. Hopefully some Cerne files will work out well.
In the past found I could pretty easily edit mips that did not have invisibility...most trees and treewalls have it. So mainly just switched mips by re-naming them and over-writing existing files. Lots of experimenting with that.
1. Get GPL Image Viewer so searching for files is easier to do.
(Just found the gpllinks link to GPL Image Viewer is toast. Maybe its here somewhere? Looking around could not find it or a good link).
2. Get WinMip2 and a compatible graphics program for tweaking mips. You can change some things even on mips with invisible sub-images, (think that 's what they're called), if you stay away from the edges that touch on invisibilities. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Sometimes all you need is Windows Paint.

Also, there is a spring version of Glen48, and a spring/summer version of Panorama/Bathurst. Although I recall they have sunny days, and Syracuse has a big collection of trees if you unpack it.

So, I thought I'd have a little go at this, having watched the rather excellent video, showing a bleak-looking Brands back in '67.

Different background with greyish sky, altered the grass mips a little, and trees from Cerne, as suggested. The Cerne mips are quite lo-res, but I find I don't notice it too much while driving. I'm quite liking the way it's looking so far. Anyway, w.i.p. , I'll persist with it if anyone likes the look of it.

None of these textures are my own work, of course, so it'll be a case of getting permissions etc.....but anyway, I think with a bit more work (matching in the grass and asphalt textures into it a  bit more smoothly), I might be able to get this looking OK.

Delgs, it looks very nice. It will be an added experience to drive Brands Hatch in a different, but realistic environment. Give proper credits, but please don't hold it because of lack of permissions. Without re-using, original or tweaked, already published good material,  GPL would not have improved and be as "healthy" as it is now.

Excellent work Delgs! Bravo!

May I ask you also which Brm cockpit and steering wheel are you using?

Delgs, that is looking great! I also tried Cerne's textures last weekend. Trees textures maybe low res. Anyway track looks good with them. But some work are needed to make proper treewall look.

That's already looking really good, I wonder if it's possible to add some bare tree 3do objects behind the existing trees in some places to give it more of a wooded feel? Might cause all sorts of clipping problems though, I've not tried adding 3dos to existing tracks yet :)

Generally desaturating the colours of the mips and maybe adding a small amount of fog might also add to the spring time look.

Thanks for taking the time to do this!

BTW, for trees being low res, I remember when making my private Hockenheim '70 update that Stefano (I seem to remember it was him) put a lot of different trees mip avalaible for free on the "modders" forum. You should try and look there, I'll provide a link if I can
