Just a question

Years ago 2 mods\addons were being worked on by people, 1 showing the axel spinning and another showing flames coming the muffler during backfire.

Just wondering did these get lost over time or were they even ever completed?

I don't remember the flames from backfire but I know that spinning axles have been done by just graphic addons. I thought they were incorporated into the GPLEA cars.........

Not seeing any axle spinning on any of my cars. Are you sure Danger, if so wonder what i am missing.
Just installed 3 of the cars clean (lotus, ferrari & honda) just to verify and no luck

I remember some blurred axles that were supposed to look like they were spinning, but they didn't actually spin.

It would be great to have a animated mip for the axle-shafts.

Yeah, it would be good. It depends on whether GPL allows it or not. I think the suspension area on GPL cars is fairly set in stone, if you tried putting an animated mip in the midst of the suspension it might crash GPL because of the requirement for those polygons to stretch and shear as the suspension moves.

As for backfire flames, that would be very unlikely. Might you be thinking of the backfire sounds incorporated in GPL Sound Overlay?

Afaik you should patch the executable to implement such logic on it, I guess... think.gif

The trouble is I think that the .exe requires a certain tree structure for the suspension. If you deviate from the structure used in the original cars by adding distance switching nodes and other polygons it probably crashes the game.

I could be completely wrong, but from my limited experiment with GPL cars you are fairly restricted on what can be done with some areas of the car.
