GPL is a fantastic game,best racing sim i have ever played,hard to believe its 8 years old.!
I also agree that DM,Bill,Pirenzo Scottie,Fast Tommi and the Ferrari fan Quattro do a great job making this site a really friendly place to vist whether your new to GPL or a GPLRank master.Not forgetting the other members (a fine body of men who also make this site a nice place to vist. I dont generally get to 100 + posts on a site before i am banned ( its normally about 40 before i p*** off Admin with my errr unique sense of humour,it can get that bad i have seen grown men weep openly ) but here i seem to be doing ok.

What a sincere thread...

OK guys, I must admit, I wondered was I happy with GPL? So, I went away for a week, reinstalled F1c, and every mod. Tweaked my .PLR files. Drove on tracks unavailable in GPL. In cars unavailable in GPL. With dynamic weather and animated pitcrews, with nancy boy voice overs. Great fun, but so unconvincing.... I couldn't slide the car, trail-brake or engine brake. In the end.... well I just deleted over 6GB of ISI based software. I also tried the GTL demo.... There is some "black magic" in the GPL engine--who knows what they did--so like Ginetto I'm forever happy for now!

And I must give a cheer to DMouse & crew, not only for the forum, but the alternative track database, which is now having updated links installed and helps us all out,

Had a nice GPL 65 race saturday night and after that I looked around GTL (I have bought it) at RSC and other places and noticed that Brands Hatch has been done. So I downloaded it, created a new player, did some cheating and went to Brands with an Alfa. After one lap I stopped again and for me even the little wheee wheee 65 cars have more flair then the high polished GTL.
Thanks to all (drivers, modders, researching ones, web site hosters) !!!

The 65 Mod cars around GPLs Brands are magic. TBH I think the 65s are better than the 67s around there.

Comparing a 65 F1 car with a Touring Car is a little unfair though - the 65 F1 car has twice the power to weight ratio and a much better chassis. It will easily beat a 67 sports prototype around Brands, let alone an Alfa GTA

And the Brands conversion for GTL isn't really what I'd call highly polished - its not up to Simbin standards and the GPL Brands seems more accurate.

But GPL is unique and looks like remaining so for some time yet.

Yes, the Brands Hatch conversion seems not bad but I like the GPL version a lot.
And you're right. I noticed that a F1 car is a F1 car and a sports car is no more then a sports car

But yes, for a long time GPL will remain unique as is the people which put in so much work in it
