Hi
Bought this game about 8months ago, and love it. Best racing game i've ever played. Having recently got the internet, i'm curious about on line racing (having never done it before on any format) and would like to have a go at some point in the future.
I recently downloaded the latest version of GEM/IGOR and clicked on the IGOR icon in GEM purely out of curiosity to see if there would be any system problems..etc. (i wasn't attempting to join a race at this point).
When i do this the following error message comes up:

Could not open gplmods.ini

When you 'OK' this message it is followed by:

Last GPL player chosen cannot be found as a players/player folder

When you 'OK' this message, the IGOR screen then opens.

I'll also add that over the past couple of months i've downloaded the excellent 65,66 and 69 mods and seemed to install them in GEM all without any problems on my Vista system.
However, recently i altered my only existing 'player name' in GPL to a different name (for the 67's) and also created a new seperate player name for the 65mod. This seemed to work Ok and i've noted that the Players folder has altered accordingly in the GPL directory to show my new 67 player name and a newly created 65 player name (all readable files within both folder show the new player names and GEM looks ok) but i'm suspicious that this may be linked to the above error message.

On a related note, when i click on the folder for either player name there are various files within each folder such as plac65,plac66,plac69 and a plan65. Is this normal? I'm now thinking that despite installing everything correctly, my player files may not have the correct info in.. i.e. would i expect to see a plac66 file in my '65' player folder?

I realise that there are other things to do to get IGOR to operate and i'll cross those bridges when i get to them hopefully, but just wanted to firstly check about the above error. (On that subject, if anyone knows of any 'idiot proof' documentation on how IGOR works / how to race on-line it would be much appreciated).

I apologise in advance if this thread appears confusing and any screen shots of where i'm going wrong would be most welcome. I'm not the best with computers and this is my first post, so the more basic info the better.

Thank you all very much

I have been a GPLer for quite a while now. I have all the mods and hundreds of tracks, but have yet to race online. I too would be interested in a small tutorial on getting up and running in online races.

Many Thanks Ginetto, i must have looked everywhere but here! This guide looks to be the sort of thing i was looking for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Hopefully when i get the error message sorted, it will be straight forward.

Thanks for that Ginetto. I don't visit that site very often, would have never looked there.

Just realised what the problem was... and it was obvious after reading the 'Help' section in IGOR. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/oops.gif)

I assumed (incorrectly) it was some problem i had created 'outside' of IGOR by the way i had installed all the mods.

Hopefully i'll have more of a challenging question next time...

Thanks to all who took the time to read my question anyway.

Many Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
